Hobo Bag.

This is a bag/purse I made for myself two weeks ago.  I took the pattern from jarolinecreative.  The pattern was very easy to work with, but I would pick a different type of fabric next time.  I used a drapery fabric which was too thick, and it didn't help that I got the thickest interfacing that there is.  But everything worked out great at the end.  Even my inside pocket came out ok.  Overall I'm very happy with my new bag :)

Sewing Room

I have finally been able to do something I really wanted to do for a long time… and that is to have a separate table and room for my sewing equipment, and fabrics.  When we moved into this new house, we’ve gained all this room, so I had to take advantage of it.  I set up my sewing room downstairs in the basement.  Although the basement is not yet finished.. it’s warm enough to sew in there, and plenty of space too.  So after a week of searching though Kijiji – used item website, I found everything I needed and more.  The only thing that I did end up buying brand new was the lamp… because it was very nice.  So now my room is all equipped and I’m ready to sew.  The first thing I will make is the back curtain for the wall behind me… since right now there is no real wall… just wood.  I think it will look much nicer with the curtain.  Here are some photos.

Olympics

I’ve been quite busy over the last couple of weeks.  After I came back from the cottage on the 9th, I’ve been glued to the TV trying to see all the Olympic coverage that was possible.  It is somewhat hard to do since NBC and CBC is typically broadcasting till early morning due to the 12 hours time difference from Beijing.  Needles to say, I have been sleep deprived and one coffee in the morning does not do it anymore.  I missed the opening ceremony, but I’m looking forward to watching the closing one this weekend.  I must say that swimming and gymnastics are my two favorite sports to watch; especially swimming since Michael Phelps was amazing.  I’m officially slightly obsessed with him, I’m sure Andrew would says otherwise, (more like fully obsessed) but I can’t help it, he is HOT.
Other than that, I made some pillow cases for all my nieces and my nephew.  I had a lot of fun making them and I hope they are cuddly to sleep with.  I used the special feature on my machine and sawed in each of their names in the pillow.  I think it came up nice.  Also I got crazy one night and I made another crocheting doll.  I really like how it turned out.  It looks similar to “Sam” but his hair is somewhat different and he’s a bit taller; standing at almost 11”.  Hopefully I’ll have some more time to do more crocheting crafts before I have to pack for Saskatoon.

Meet Bailey

What started out to be a small teddy bear turned into some weird form of a creature with a huge head.  It actually looks a bit different in real life then on the photos.  I think it looks much cuter in real life.  Here are some photos.

Pillow Case - Made with Love

Some time ago when I first got my sewing machine I wanted to make a pillow case for Andrew.  And with some effort I managed to make one.  This pillow case is quite funny; it has two arms that are buttoned together to the material and two heart pockets, as in tooth fairy pockets because Andrew has to have his wisdom teeth removed soon.  I had a lot of fun making this pillow because I didn’t quite knew what I was doing, because I did not use a pattern, but things actually turned out pretty good.  The most important thing is that Andrew likes it.  He has to!

Fun Projects

I’ve been quite busy lately, with all the projects I’ve started, but things are finally looking good.  I have almost completed my doll; I just need to add last touches such as a matching purse and possibly a belt.  Also I have made a little dolly which was supposed to be a monk, but it did not turn out that way.  I think it turned out interesting.  Apart from crocheting, I have also picked up my sewing machine and I simply love it.  I will post some photos tomorrow.  I have made my first project – a tooth fairy pillow which turned out quite nice, too bad none of my nieces are not losing their teeth yet. Laughing  My next project is a pillow case.  I will post some updates soon.
